Held at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, the final round of SAY ASPIRE 2019 titled Pitch@Istana took place on the 24th of August 2019.
SAY ASPIRE is the signature programme of Entrepreneurship Selangor, the entrepreneurial focus area of Selangor Youth Community (SAY). Branded as SAY’s signature export ready programme, SAY ASPIRE act as a platform to develop export ready companies, aiding them in penetrating global market and becoming global champions through exports and business improvement strategies.
SAY ASPIRE is in line with the vision and mission of DYTM Tengku Amir Shah ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, the Crown Prince of Selangor and founder of SAY, in his effort to create a more vibrant and liveable environment for the youth of Selangor to thrive in.
Under SAY ASPIRE, participants are provided with personalized business coaching and mentorship sessions with industrial players and seasoned entrepreneurs, business analysis and evaluation, collaborative networking with private and governmental agencies, access to procurement teams as well as the opportunity to pitch for investments.
SAY ASPIRE saw final participants pitch their business models, products, services, as well as aspirations to penetrate the global market during Pitch@Istana in front of prominent figures including DYTM Tengku Amir Shah, YB Puan Rodziah Binti Ismail (Selangor State Executive Council of Entrepreneurship Development and Rural Development), Mr Evan Cheah (Executive Vice President, Presidents Office of Sunway Group), Puan Zannifa Azura Binti Ahmad (Chief Financial Officer, Menteri Besar (Incorporated) Selangor), YBrs. Mr Noor Azmi Mat Said (Chief Executive Officer, SME Corp Malaysia), YBrs. Puan Dzuleira Abu Bakar (Chief Executive Officer, Malaysia Global Innovation and Creativity Centre MaGIC), YM Raja Hamzah Abidin (Co-Managing Partner, RHL Ventures) and YBrs. Mr Fong Leong (Chief Operating Officer, Segi Values Holdings Sdn Bhd)
The final participants include Citarasa Milennium (food & beverage), ILuvQuran (education), Kulsocs (apparel), MIWA Manufacturing, NIQA (cleaning product), Palm Fiber (pharmaceutical), Potonguler (food & beverage), SAMZA Food (food & beverage), Sheen Beauty (health & beauty), Superbike (apparel), and Tinta Mumtaz (food & beverage).
Prior to the final session, the programme consisted of several stages of selections and pitches with a total applicant of 154 companies from all across Selangor, shortlisted to the final 11.
DYTM Tengku Amir Shah graced the final session as judge, accompanied by YB Puan Rodziah, YBrs. Puan Dzuleira, YM Raja Hamzah, YBrs. Mr Fong Leong, YBrs. Mr Amran Yem (Senior Director, Transformation and Digital Trade, Malaysia External Trade Development Cooperation MATRADE), YBrs. Puan Anna Teo (Malaysia’s largest Musang King Exporter), YBrs. Dr Sivapalan Vivekarajah (Chief Evangelist and Master Coach, Proficeo), and YBrs. Dr Nur Ain Shahrier (Senior Lecturer Department of Economics and Finance, Sunway University Business School).
